Our Big Day in Coralville!

    
     We came, we saw, and we conquered the Children's Museum!  What a wonderful day!  The kids had a great time imagining, creating, discovering and exploring.  I would like to thank my fantastic parent volunteers for giving their time and keeping things going smoothly.  I couldn't have done it without you!  I hope you enjoy these snapshots of our day.

3D Shapes are Fat, Not Flat!

     Recently, we have been spending some time exploring the 3-D shapes.  My students are loving a poem shared by Marlana, at Lil' Country Kindergarten!  They definitely read it with enthusiasm.  :)  Another activity was a particular hit.  We built various shapes out of marshmallows and toothpicks.  We started with one face of the shape and built up from there.  It was a wonderful way for the kids to distinguish between the flat 2D shapes, and the "fat" 3D ones.  The photos show their concentration as they are thinking through the process!

Ahhhh....Spring!

     I love this time of year.  I see growth everywhere -- outside and inside the classroom!  We are blooming!
     I snapped a few photos this week of some of our fun activities.  First up, I found a great work station activity from Pam at Can Do Kinders.  The kids "Write the Room" by locating cards around the room and recording the missing blend. 

     They enjoy wearing their butterfly glasses as they do this.  (I can't leave Target without stopping at the dollar spot!  :))

    
     We ended the day today with a painting activity from HeidiSongs.  I wish you could have heard the "oooohhs" and "ahhhhhs" in the room as their sight words magically appeared in the eggs!  Oh my goodness, they were extremely motivated to read their words over and over as they read to their neighbors!
